Dr. Shireen Rahimi is an underwater storyteller, marine scientist, National Geographic Explorer, and the founder of Lightpalace Productions.

Shireen weaves together western science and ancient wisdom to inspire action for our oceans and climate.

With her expertise in directing, underwater camera operation, and on-camera presenting, Shireen has traveled across the globe telling emotional, character-driven stories about rapidly changing oceans.

She has created work for The Nature Conservancy, Oceana, Jane Goodall Institute, PBS, and film festivals around the world. She was named the 2024 International SeaKeepers Association’s NexGen Awardee, the CIMASUB Best Female Filmmaker, and has received four grants from the National Geographic Society. The most recent will fund a hosted docu-series exploring why the ocean is our greatest ally in our fight for a climate-positive future.
